Giampaolo Parrilla
"Giampaolo Parrilla’s work (b.1997) explores the themes of violence and ambiguity of the image, the relationship between the ordinary and discomfort, collective trauma, and the connection between the fragility of the body and artificial technological power, through tools of geopolitical analysis.
The works extend the pictorial tradition, reworking global news, images of conflicts, infographic maps, data models, photos of military weapons systems, NGO reports, which become tools of investigation on the theme of vision, on the way we are used to to think and understand reality, and the failure of representation.
The main focus is on bodies and their connections with the violent use of technology, symbolic and social inferences, the legacies of historical crises, and the revolutionary potential of the collective imagination. He reflect on the common capacity to absorb and remove large quantities of information from the media, and to be influenced by often unverified sources.
The works explore the various visible and invisible forms of violence of the image, revealing and at the same time retaining meaning. His practice raises questions about the ways in which crisis events can be represented, both at the level of metaphor and imagination as an act of resistance and sabotage."

" A reflection on the violent images of nature, through the gaze and images of documentary makers. By now our relationship with nature is completely filtered by very high resolution images of exotic flowers, distant and spectacular places, images so colorful and saturated that it is impossible to find in nature. Images so spectacular and retouched that they lose a real connection with nature"
