Gigi Guldas
"As an analog photographer with roots in Istanbul and France, I am drawn to storytelling through imagery that explores nature, memory, and emotion. My work seeks to capture moments that feel both grounded and fleeting, inviting viewers into narratives shaped by the textures, imperfections, and surprises inherent in analog photography. I’m drawn to these processes not only for their aesthetic qualities but also for the sense of discovery they offer.
Through analog photography and experimental techniques such as expired film, film soup, and multiple exposures, I create layered narratives that reflect unspoken connections and the fluid nature of perception. The unpredictability of these processes mirrors the way memory and experience unfold—fragmented, distorted, and beautifully imperfect.
These methods allow me to reflect the raw beauty of nature alongside the shifting landscapes of human experience, blurring the line between reality and perception. The textures and imperfections in my work evoke a sense of nostalgia, reflecting how we hold onto fleeting memories and moments.
My mixed-media work extends this exploration. By layering materials onto photographic images, I aim to build upon the emotional resonance of each piece, highlighting the ways personal moments and perspectives shape our understanding of the natural world.
I also create photobooks that combine imagery with written narratives, blending the storytelling potential of both mediums. These works unfold gradually, offering space for contemplation, emotional engagement, and connection.
Across all aspects of my practice, I’m interested in exploring themes of transformation and continuity—identifying how the natural world and human experience mirror one another, and how both are shaped by time, perception, and memory. Ultimately, I hope my art invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the emotional depth of their own stories and experiences."

Intersecting Realms, 16x24, Analog Photography - Giclée Print, 2023
" Layers of imagery converge in Intersecting Realms, where multiple exposures blur the boundaries between earth, sky and sea. This interplay symbolizes the intersections of time, memory, and place, inviting viewers to reflect on the connections that shape our journeys. " Venus Gaze presents the rose as a force of evolution, with shifting layers that hint at strength and renewal. The holographic overlay adds depth and texture, transforming the piece as light moves across its surface. By emphasizing the interplay of material and perception, the piece reflects how our view of the natural world is shaped, encouraging a closer contemplation of its complexity and transformative qualities."
