nurbanu kılıçer

"Born in Istanbul in 1995, Nurbanu Kılıçer is a graduate of the Painting Department at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts. She continues her artistic practice in her studio in Istanbul, producing work across painting, illustration, and digital media. Her works often focus on the invisible tensions of daily life, emotional fractures, and the fleeting inner tides experienced by the individual.

Kılıçer’s figurative language presents relational scenes that feel familiar, infused with a subtle dramatic tension. Her bold use of color and dense compositions heighten the emotional intensity of her narratives. Her paintings isolate the viewer from the outside world, placing them in the middle of a feeling that is often recognizable but difficult to articulate.

Her first solo exhibition, “A Fragment of Time Too Short to Divide”, opened in 2023 at Bant Mag. Havuz / Bina in Kadıköy. The show explored the complex nature of human relationships and the ambiguity of the present moment, inviting viewers to confront their own inner conflicts by focusing on the space between memory and anticipation.

In the post-pandemic period, Kılıçer began integrating digital techniques into her practice, producing works that merge analog and digital approaches. This hybrid method has added new layers to her visual storytelling.

Her works have been exhibited on platforms such as Büyükdere35 and Shopi Go, and she also engages in socially-conscious projects, using art not only as an aesthetic medium but as an ethical one as well."
